When creating a new home surrounded by owner-built properties on the NSW South Coast, the owners were intent on ensuring the result was modest, not ostentatious, and respectful of the local community. The perfect person for the job? Their daughter, architect Madeleine Blanchfield!

Not only did Madeleine perfectly understand the desires of her parents, her architecture expertise enabled a sympathetic design response perfectly suited to its Bendalong context. 

The 2019-2020 bushfires threatened to destroy this home not long after completion (as evidenced in photos of the surrounding trees), but fortunately it was built to BAL – 19 standards, and thanks to the tireless work of the Rural Fire Service, it is still standing strong!

Earlier this year we featured the work of the very talented emerging artist, Amalia Keefer. We loved her work so much (and so did you guys!), so before long we got chatting to Amalia about the possibility of hosting her first solo exhibition – and to our delight, she accepted!

‘Here, In My Mind’ is a series of 14 abstract paintings exploring colour and form. Through Amalia’s perspective, ordinary daily moments are made extraordinary. We’re hoping to be able to open Amalia’s show in person (fingers crossed!) on Saturday June 12th… but for now, pre-sales are open!

Ines English is self-admittedly ‘obsessed’ with her converted warehouse apartment, and it’s not hard to see why!

Located in the iconic 1915 Griffiths Building in Surry Hills, the apartment has been rented by the actress and student since mid 2020, alongside her partner, Caleb Harrower, tattoo artist and owner of Tattoo Rosies.

The couple fell in love with the apartment’s wide timber floorboards, original ceiling beams, and New York City feel, all of which have been a dream to decorate!
