Ozzie Wright, Mylee Grace Fitzgerald and Family – The Design Files | Australia's most popular design blog.

I hope we have managed to capture the sheer blissful happiness of the Wright/Fitzgerald family in these photos, because visiting this home was just such a relaxed and utterly delightful experience, I am not sure we could ever do it justice.

Essentially, Ozzie Wright (pro surfer / artist / musician and co-owner and creative director of Vampirate Surfboards) and Mylee Grace Fitzgerald ( songstress of Mylee Grace and the Milkshakes and co-owner of Arcade vintage boutique) are just two of the MOST completely chilled out people I have ever met.  It is quite incredible, and, I hope, contagious.

Asado Argentinian Beef Ribs – The Design Files | Australia's most popular design blog.

This week Mauro Callegari of The Independent in Gembrook is back, sharing one of Argentina’s favourite dishes – Asado style beef ribs.

Traditionally, Asado style cooking refers to meat cooked on the barbeque or grill, but this version is all about slow cooking the meat until it is tender in the oven. Mauro pairs his ribs with a salsa verde style sauce, the perfect zingy accompaniment to this rich, flavoursome dish.

Five Garden Designs You Didn't Get To See At The Melbourne International Flower + Garden Show

GardensFive Garden Designs You Didn't Get To See At The Melbourne International Flower + Garden Show

‘Show gardens live only to be seen for a short amount of time, and if it isn’t seen… did it exist?’ asks Sarah Tulloch, an emerging designer who was due to showcase her student landscape at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show this week. Her design was titled ‘Alpine Calm’, where moulded snow gums gave way to a carpet of small plants and native grasses in an urban courtyard. It would look like springtime in the Victorian alps after snow had thawed.

As Sarah says, ‘different creativity has different end points,’ so for a lot of the installation gardens, this year’s MIFGS was the flashpoint of their existence, the entirety of their lifespan.

If all had gone according to plan, today would have been the second day of the Melbourne International Flower and Garden show. So instead, we bring a little bit of it to you.
