A Dreamy Interior Update For A Coastal Summer House

A graceful, grand backdrop of towering gum trees sits behind this breezy weekender in Palm Beach. It was these natural surrounds and the sense of calm they evoke that inspired designers Arent&Pyke when they were engaged to reimagine the interiors of the home.

Steering clear of the typical beach-house aesthetic, the designers drew on serene blues, natural textures and native scenery to create a modern coastal look. It’s a timeless, updated holiday space that feels like home!

A Journey Through The Seasons At Paul Bangay's Monumental Garden

Celebrated landscape designer, Paul Bangay, has been in the biz for 30 years, and for 16 of them he has been tending to his own private garden just outside Daylesford.

Named Stonefields, the sprawling property is Paul’s labour of love. It is regal and robust, filled with flowers, hedges and ponds all inspired by the great country houses of the United Kingdom. A new book by Paul celebrates the seasonal landscape he has curated, and observes the botanical shifts that comes with each one. Stonefields: By The Seasons charts a mature garden in full bloom after years of patient growing.

Our own Lucy Feagins will join Paul for a stroll around Stonefields and a conversation about this meaningful project this Saturday November 14th at 10am on Instagram live!

The Nomadic Artist Who Is Always Painting On The Road

Since 2018, artist Emily Imeson has been travelling around Australia living and painting out of a four wheel drive. Engagement with nature is so central to her practice, she seeks new environments to immerse herself in as often as she can. Paradoxically, change is her only constant.

While traversing the vast landscape, Emily’s focus has been narrowed to a few simple necessities: water, food, shade, weather, nature, and painting. This talented artist is living the  lifestyle most of us can only dream of!

A Weekend (and a giveaway!) At Lindenderry

TravelA Weekend (and a giveaway!) At Lindenderry

Lindenderry at Red Hill was first opened by the Lancemore Group in 1995, and like most 23-year-olds, was ready for a reinvention, of sorts. Melbourne-based interiors firm Hecker Guthrie was recently commissioned to reinvigorate the restaurant, lobby and public spaces within the boutique hotel, and have brought their signature contemporary aesthetic to this country charmer.

Upon checking in, my boyfriend and I were shown to our HUGE room with generous views of the magnificent grounds (side note: the reservation had prematurely married us under my surname, ‘Mr and Mrs Tabart’ – what a progressive couple we are!). First things first, we reviewed the comfiness of the bed and the fluffiness of the robes. I am pleased to report that both received full marks.

With its own private lake(!), well-loved tennis court and vast, manicured greenery, the splendour of the gardens should not be understated. Fully-stocked picnic baskets are on offer for hotel guests to enjoy amongst the trees, and it’s easy to imagine lazing around with cheese and wine on a sunny day. Deep regrets about not doing this.

Inside, the palette emulates natural colours and materials, and every opportunity has been taken to reference the beautiful surrounds. Crisp, architectural elements such as reeded glass provide a structural facelift, whilst Scandi-style furnishings (think blonde timber bench seats with sleek leather cushions) complete the look.

Whilst retaining the integrity of Lindenderry’s classic country style, Hecker Guthrie’s refurbishment of the common spaces and restaurant has brought a new edge to the boutique hotel. ‘Lindenderry is a contemporary take on the traditional estate home,’ says the interiors firm, ‘the overall look-and-feel has an English sensibility, with a distinct Australian touch.’

We’re offering a lucky reader the opportunity to win the ultimate weekend away at Lindenderry, including:

– 2 Night stay at Lindenderry*
– 1 x Dinner for two with matching wines
– 1 x Picnic for two in vineyards
