The Sunny And Bright Home Of A Doula And Her Family.

When our photographer and stylist went to document doula Sunni Hart’s Eltham home, they were immediately welcomed by six year old Fox, who confidently took them on a tour of his room, introduced them to his pet fish, and the balcony where he feeds the parrots.

While Fox’s guided explanation is for visitors only, today we share Sunni’s tour of this dreamy gum-tree surrounded rental that she shares with partner Pete Baxter, and kids Fox (6) and Dizzy (8 months).

Bigger Isn’t Better In This Newcastle Home

This Newcastle home may appear large in photos, but that’s all due to the clever design by Curious Practice.

Occupying a mere 55 square metre footprint, the new house plays with volume and height to maximise space for a young family.

By using utilitarian materials (unpainted fibre-cement sheet, galvanised steel, concrete and others!) planting extensive garden areas, and engaging with the street, the project achieves its primary goal of creating a comfortable family home on a small footprint, whilst sitting harmoniously in its context.

A New Ballarat Home With Lake Views + Amazing Mid-Century Vibes!

The clients of this Ballarat house called on Kennedy Nolan to design a mid-century inspired home with views across the adjacent lake. Unfortunately, given the site’s south-facing orientation, achieving this was easier said than done… but this wasn’t Kennedy Nolan’s first rodeo!

By elevating the main living area at the front of the home slightly, and planting greenery in the forefront, the architects ensured lake views are ever present, while removing passing cars and people from sight. Add some north-facing clerestory windows, and you have one seriously amazing home!
